Setting up synchronization

Synchronization works with the SyncML protocol. This allows you to sync anywhere in the world if you have an Internet conenction. You need a SyncML client. Determine which SyncML client you need for your device or program. Look it up in the table below:

General synchronization instructions

To set up a synchronization profile you need the following values:

SyncML Server Version: 1.1
SyncML server URL: http://<Enter the URL for your Group-Office>/sync/index.php
Port: 80
Username: Your Group-Office username
Password: Your Group-Office password

Nokia synchronization instructions

These Nokia phones come with a SyncML client so it's not nessecary to install software on this devices. You only need to setup an Internet access point and a synchronization profile. Read the Nokia manual if you are having problems with setting up an Internet access point. To setup the synchronization profile do the following:

  1. From the desktop select Extra->Synchroniztion

  2. Press the “Menu” button and select “New”

  3. If the system asks you to copy data from the selected profile answer no.

  4. For the profile name enter “Group-Office” and press "Continue"

  5. Select connection type "Internet", the Internet access point and press continue.

  6. Enter the following settings
    Host: http://<Enter the URL for your Group-Office>/sync/index.php
    Port: 80
    Username: Your Group-Office username
    Password: Your Group-Office password

  7. Press continue

  8. Turn contacts on

  9. Turn calendar on

  10. Turn e-mail off

  11. Press next

  12. Enter “vcard” for the external contacts database and press "Continue"

  13. Enter “vcal" for the external calendar database and press "Continue"

  14. Set this profile as the default profile if you like and press "Continue"

 

Pocket PC synchronization installation instructions

  1. Download and unzip the package
  2. If you're not upgrading and you don't have Microsoft VB Runtimes installed then install this before Sync4GO.
  3. Launch the application and go to communication settings. Point the SyncServer URL to http://yourserver/groupoffice/sync/index.php and enter your Group-Office username and password.
  4. You are ready to synchronize now!
 

Outlook synchronization installation instructions

  1. Download and install the application.
  2. Launch the application and go to the menu Edit->Communication settings. Point the SyncServer URL to http://yourserver/groupoffice/sync/index.php and enter your Group-Office username and password.
  3. You are ready to synchronize now!
